About Autodrom Most

Autodrom Most is a permanent motor racing facility located in the northwest Czech Republic. The circuit opened in 1983 and has developed into a significant venue in the European motorsport landscape. The facility holds an FIA Grade 2 license and serves as a key racing center in Central Europe, with easy access from Germany, Austria, and Poland.

Circuit Layout and Configuration

The current Grand Prix circuit measures 4.212 kilometers (2.617 miles) in length and features 21 turns. The layout combines fast straights with technical sections, creating diverse challenges for competitors. The track includes flowing sections with elevation changes that test vehicle setup and driver skill. A major reconfiguration in 2004 introduced a sharp chicane at Turns 1-2, designed to create an overtaking opportunity similar to Monza's first chicane. This modification addressed the circuit's historically narrow layout and limited passing zones.

Recent Modernization and Upgrades

Between 2021 and 2022, Autodrom Most received substantial investment totaling approximately 35 million Czech Koruna (around €1.4 million). The track surface from Turn 12 exit to Turn 5 entry was completely resurfaced. New kerbs were installed at the Turn 1-2 chicane, with further kerb modifications completed at Turn 3 for the 2024 season.

Safety improvements included reprofiling gravel traps between Turns 5 and 10, and at Turns 13, 18, and 20. Guardrails were relocated further from the track edge in these areas. The circuit installed approximately 4.5 kilometers of drainage tubes across multiple corner sections (Turns 1-3, 5-10, 11-12, 13, 15-17, and 18-21), significantly improving water management. Additional 2024 upgrades modified run-off zones at Turns 16 and 17, and adjusted the Turn 1 approach to enhance braking safety for motorcycles.

Technology and Safety Systems

The facility now operates 28 movable and zoomable 4K cameras, plus 27 permanent cameras and one mobile unit. These cameras feature 360-degree rotation and wipers for wet conditions, providing complete track coverage. The race control area was expanded, and connectivity between paddock areas was improved. A new medical center was designed and planned for 2024 construction.

Major Events and Motorsport Activities

Autodrom Most hosts several major international championships. The FIM Superbike World Championship signed a five-year agreement starting in 2021, establishing the circuit as a regular WorldSBK venue. The facility also hosts the FIA European Truck Racing Championship (Czech Truck Prix), NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, TCR Eastern Europe, and Formula 4 CEZ Championship. These events demonstrate the circuit's versatility across different racing categories.

Beyond competitive racing, the circuit provides testing facilities for racing teams, hosts track days for enthusiasts, and offers various driver training programs. This multi-use approach maximizes the facility's value to the motorsport community.

Facilities and Spectator Experience

The circuit features extensive run-off areas and advanced barrier systems that meet FIA Grade 2 safety standards. Spectators benefit from well-positioned viewing areas that provide clear sightlines to multiple track sections. The facility's continued investment in infrastructure ensures competitors and visitors receive modern, professional services.
