The event represents a significant addition to Australia's motorsport calendar, offering teams and drivers a new challenge at a modern facility. The FIA TCR World Tour is expected to join as a support category, bringing up to 30 cars from Australian and international teams to create a diverse racing program.

The path to hosting a major endurance event at The Bend has not been without obstacles. An endurance race was initially planned for 2020 but faced cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
