About The Bend Motorsport Park

The Bend Motorsport Park stands as one of Australia's premier racing facilities, located approximately 100 kilometers southeast of Adelaide in Tailem Bend, South Australia. This world-class circuit opened in 2018 and has quickly established itself as a significant venue in the international motorsport landscape. The track combines technical challenges with high-speed sections across its various configurations, offering drivers and teams a diverse racing experience in a state-of-the-art environment.

Circuit Design and Configurations

The Bend's design draws inspiration from renowned international circuits, resulting in a track that tests both driver skill and vehicle performance. The facility features eight different circuit configurations, making it exceptionally versatile for various motorsport categories. In its longest form, the GT Circuit extends 7.77 kilometers, positioning it as the second-longest permanent racing circuit globally, behind only the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. The track incorporates 35 corners and an 85-meter elevation change throughout its layout, creating a dynamic driving experience with significant technical demands.

Technical Specifications and Standards

The Bend Motorsport Park holds the distinction of being Australia's only circuit that meets the latest FIA Grade 2 and FIM Category A standards. These certifications confirm the track's compliance with international safety and design requirements for both car and motorcycle racing at the highest levels. The circuit can operate as four separate tracks simultaneously, allowing for multiple events to run concurrently – a feature that highlights its innovative design and operational flexibility.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Beyond the racing surface itself, The Bend offers comprehensive facilities that make it a complete motorsport destination. The venue includes a multi-purpose stadium, a quarter-mile drag strip, dedicated off-road courses, and extensive pit facilities. A standout feature is the 100-room Rydges Hotel that overlooks the circuit, allowing guests to watch racing action directly from their accommodations. This integration of hospitality and racing creates a unique experience for visitors and participants alike.

The Bend Enduro - A New Chapter

September 12-14, 2025 will mark the inaugural running of The Bend Enduro, also known as The Bend 500. This 500-kilometer endurance race will form part of the Repco Supercars Championship and serve as the opening round of the prestigious Supercars Enduro Cup. The event represents a significant addition to Australia's motorsport calendar, offering teams and drivers a new challenge at a modern facility. The FIA TCR World Tour is expected to join as a support category, bringing up to 30 cars from Australian and international teams to create a diverse racing program.

Historical Context

The path to hosting a major endurance event at The Bend has not been without obstacles. An endurance race was initially planned for 2020 but faced cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2025 event therefore represents the realization of a long-held ambition for the circuit, positioning it alongside other iconic Australian motorsport venues. The Bend's addition to the endurance racing calendar reflects its growing status in Australian and international motorsport circles and provides South Australia with a signature racing event.
