ℹ️ About Lausitzring

The DTM returns to the Eurospeedway Lausitzring for another round of GT3 racing action. This German venue near Klettwitz in Brandenburg hosts one of the premier touring car championships in Europe. The Lausitzring circuit offers fans close access to the DTM paddock and multiple viewing areas across the facility.

About the DTM Series

The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters features GT3-specification race cars from multiple manufacturers. These machines produce up to 600 horsepower and compete under Group GT3 regulations. Pirelli supplies tires for all teams throughout the season. The series visits circuits across Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria.

The Lausitzring Circuit

The DEKRA Lausitzring opened in August 2000 on land that once served as an open-pit lignite coal mine. The facility stands out in continental Europe for its high-speed oval configuration. The circuit offers multiple layouts for different racing series.

Track Configurations

The venue features several distinct track layouts. The Grand Prix Circuit measures 4.534 kilometers and provides the main racing surface for the DTM. A superspeedway oval spans 3.256 kilometers with banking up to 5.7 degrees. The facility also includes a test oval with banking that reaches 49 degrees.

Spectator Facilities

The Lausitzring can accommodate 120,000 spectators across its grounds. The main grandstand seats 25,000 people and provides views of the entire circuit. Fans gain free access to both the DTM paddock and the fan area with their tickets. Various ticket options include weekend passes, camping access, VIP packages, and single-day admission.

Racing at the Lausitzring

The DTM field consists of GT3-spec cars from manufacturers including Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche. Land-Motorsport will compete with Porsche machinery, with Bastian Buus confirmed as one of their drivers. Several manufacturers plan to introduce updated GT3 models, including the Ferrari 296, Ford Mustang GT3, and Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Support Racing Program

The Lausitzring DTM event features additional racing series. The ADAC GT Masters brings more GT3 competition to the weekend. The Porsche Carrera Cup and BMW M2 Cup provide opportunities for developing drivers to showcase their skills. The BMW M2 Cup returns as a junior series within the DTM support program.

History of the Circuit

Brandenburg state funded most of the 158 million euro construction cost for the Lausitzring. The facility became the first banked oval in Europe since the 1920s. The circuit originally carried the name EuroSpeedway Lausitz from 2000 to 2010. DEKRA acquired the venue in 2017 and uses portions of the facility as a test site, particularly for autonomous vehicle development.

The Lausitzring has hosted numerous international racing series over the years. CART and Champ Car, World Superbike Championship, and FIA GT Championship have all visited the circuit. The venue's location near the Polish and Czech borders makes it accessible to fans from multiple countries.

What Makes This Event Special

The combination of the DTM series and the unique Lausitzring circuit creates a distinctive racing experience. The track's multiple configurations and its unusual oval sections set it apart from other European venues. Fans can walk through the paddock area and observe teams working on their cars between sessions. The facility's capacity and viewing areas provide numerous vantage points for watching the racing.

The DTM at Lausitzring delivers close GT3 racing on a circuit that challenges both drivers and engineers. The variety of support races adds depth to the weekend's programming. This event represents a key round in the DTM championship battle.
