About London ePrix II

The London ePrix II represents the final race of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Season 12. This formula-e event serves as the second race of a double-header weekend at the ExCeL London Circuit, where the World Champion will be crowned. The event combines high-performance electric racing with an interactive fan experience at the Allianz Fan Village, which features simulator challenges, performances, and live music.

Circuit Information

The ExCeL London Circuit stands as the only track in top-level international motorsport that runs both inside and outside an exhibition center. Located at Royal Victoria Dock in East London, the circuit measures 2.09 kilometers (1.299 miles) and features 20 turns. The track presents a distinct challenge for drivers as they transition between indoor and outdoor sections, experiencing changes in surface texture, elevation, and lighting conditions. The smooth indoor surface contrasts with the abrasive outdoor asphalt, while the outdoor section offers flowing chicanes that create overtaking opportunities.

Formula E Racing

The London ePrix II features the GEN3 Evo car, which represents the latest generation of fully electric racing vehicles. These cars use advanced battery technology and regenerative braking systems to deliver high-performance racing while maintaining sustainability. Formula E continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology through motorsport competition.

Teams and Drivers

Season 12 of formula-e brings together competitive teams and drivers from around the globe. Oliver Rowland enters as the reigning world champion, while Porsche holds the teams' and manufacturers' titles. British drivers have historically performed well at this venue, with Sam Bird, Jake Dennis, Alex Lynn, and Oliver Rowland all securing victories. Jake Dennis holds the record for most wins (two) and podiums (five) at the London circuit.

Fan Experience

The Allianz Fan Village provides an interactive festival atmosphere around the racing action. Spectators can participate in simulator challenges, enjoy live performances, and explore various entertainment options. The ExCeL London venue offers easy access through public transport, with two Docklands Light Railway (DLR) stations located directly on the campus and connections to the London Underground.

Event History

London has maintained a significant presence in Formula E racing. The ExCeL London circuit made its debut in July 2021, introducing a unique indoor-outdoor configuration. The venue has secured a multi-year deal to host formula-e races, regularly serving as the season-ending double-header where championship titles are decided. The circuit's distinctive layout continues to provide a memorable finale to each season.

Racing Highlights

The London ePrix II will determine the season champion, adding high stakes to the competition. The circuit's varying grip levels and lighting conditions create strategic challenges for teams and drivers. The combination of technical racing and championship implications makes this formula-e event a significant moment in the season. The unique track characteristics reward drivers who can adapt quickly to changing conditions while managing their energy strategy throughout the race.
