ℹ️ About Jeddah ePrix II

The Jeddah ePrix II takes place at the Jeddah Street Circuit as part of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. This race represents the second event of a double-header weekend in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Formula-e returns to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, located along the Red Sea coast, for another night race under the glow of over 2000 LED lights.

The Jeddah Street Circuit

The Jeddah Street Circuit uses a modified layout of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. This track measures 3.001 km in length and features 19 turns. Drivers navigate the circuit in an anti-clockwise direction. The circuit holds the distinction of being the fastest street circuit in racing, with long sections where drivers maintain full throttle.

Carsten Tilke designed this circuit, which was constructed along the Jeddah Corniche waterfront. The formula-e layout differs significantly from the Formula 1 configuration. The electric series omits much of the first sector used in F1. Two chicanes appear on the start-finish straight to help cars recover energy. The section from Turn 8 to Turn 11 was specifically redesigned for formula-e racing. A hairpin turn connects Turn 3 to Turn 22 of the standard layout.

Race Format and Details

The Jeddah ePrix II consists of 31 laps covering a total distance of 93.003 km. Cars reach average speeds between 230 and 240 km/h during the race. Top speeds climb to approximately 255 to 260 km/h on the fastest sections. The Attack Zone sits at Turn 13, where drivers activate additional power to overtake competitors or build gaps.

The race features the Pit Boost element. Each car makes a mandatory 30-second pit stop to receive a 10% energy boost through ultra-fast charging. The charging system delivers 600kW of power, adding 3.85 kWh of energy to the battery.

Gen3 Evo Technology

The Gen3 Evo cars compete in this race. These machines accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.82 seconds. The cars reach maximum speeds up to 200 mph or 320 km/h. The electric motors operate at over 95% efficiency, which surpasses traditional combustion engines by a significant margin.

Regenerative braking produces nearly half the energy needed during each race. The system captures energy during deceleration and feeds it back into the battery. Formula-e utilizes all-wheel drive technology during qualifying sessions, race starts, and when drivers activate attack mode. This provides enhanced traction and acceleration at critical moments.

Teams and Drivers

Eleven teams field 22 drivers for the Jeddah ePrix II. The driver lineup includes established names such as Pascal Wehrlein, Jean-Eric Vergne, Jake Dennis, and Sebastien Buemi. Oliver Rowland, Maximilian Günther, and Lucas di Grassi also compete. Other drivers participating include Mitch Evans, Stoffel Vandoorne, Nick Cassidy, Robin Frijns, Nyck de Vries, and Nico Müller.

What Makes This Event Special

The Jeddah Street Circuit offers a unique combination of speed and technical challenge. The night race atmosphere creates a distinctive visual spectacle as electric race cars slice through illuminated corners. The circuit's location on the Red Sea coast provides a scenic backdrop for competitive racing.

Formula-e represents the future of sustainable motorsport. The series highlights innovation in electric vehicle technology and renewable energy. Saudi Arabia supports this vision through its Vision 2030 initiative, which emphasizes sustainability and technological advancement.

The event includes a Fan Village where supporters engage with interactive zones and gaming arenas. Opportunities exist to meet drivers and experience the cars up close. Live music and entertainment complement the racing action throughout the weekend.

Following the Race

The Jeddah ePrix II promises competitive racing on one of the most challenging street circuits in formula-e. The combination of high speeds, technical corners, and strategic energy management creates varied race scenarios. Fans can watch drivers push the limits of electric racing technology while competing for championship points in Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
