Barber Motorsports Park stands as a premier racing destination in Birmingham, Alabama. This 880-acre facility hosts the annual Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, a standout event on the IndyCar calendar. The park combines racing excellence with natural beauty, earning its nickname as "The Augusta National of Motorsports."
The track at Barber Motorsports Park features a 2.38-mile road course with 17 challenging turns. Drivers experience 80 feet of elevation change while racing on the 45-foot wide, clockwise circuit. Designer Alan Wilson crafted the track to work with the natural landscape, creating a technical challenge for IndyCar competitors.
IndyCar racing at Barber Motorsports Park showcases Dallara IR-18 chassis powered by 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engines from Chevrolet and Honda. These machines produce up to 700 horsepower and are monitored by timing systems accurate to ten-thousandths of a second.
George Barber, a former Porsche racer, built this facility to display his motorcycle collection. The park opened in 2003, with the first IndyCar race held in 2010. The facility houses the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, home to over 1,600 vintage and modern motorcycles and race cars.
