ℹ️ About Motegi

The Motegi Moto2 race stands as a key event of the Japanese Grand Prix held at Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan. The race runs on a 4.801 km road course with 14 technical turns. Riders compete over 100 km, pushing their machines through tight corners and challenging braking zones on this distinctive circuit.

Mobility Resort Motegi, previously called Twin Ring Motegi, features both a road course and an oval track. Honda built this facility in 1997, and it has hosted the Japanese Grand Prix since 2004. The road course crosses under the oval track twice, creating a unique layout that tests rider skills.

All Moto2 bikes at Motegi use identical 765cc three-cylinder Triumph engines producing 140 horsepower. Bikes reach speeds of 295 km/h while maintaining the 217 kg minimum weight requirement. Teams work within the limits of eight front and nine rear tires for the entire race weekend.

The 2025 Motegi Moto2 event introduces a new session format similar to MotoGP. Riders participate in free practice sessions and a Friday qualifying session that determines Q2 participants. The weekend includes both a sprint race and the main Grand Prix, with points awarded to top finishers in each.

The Motegi circuit offers fans additional attractions including the Honda Collection Hall, which displays historic motorcycles and cars. The 100,000-capacity venue serves as both a racing facility and a showcase for Honda technology.

Motegi Moto2 races often produce close competition due to the circuit's mix of slow technical sections and faster segments. The mountainous setting and varied track elements create conditions where rider skill and technical setup make the difference in race results.
