About Motorland Aragon

The Motorland Aragon circuit will host a round of the FIM Moto3 World Championship in 2026. This event brings together promising young motorcycle racers who compete on this challenging Spanish track. The Moto3 class features riders who showcase their skills on single-cylinder, 250cc, four-stroke machines. Motorland Aragon provides an excellent venue for these talented competitors.

Circuit Details

Motorland Aragon, also known as Circuito de Alcañiz, is an advanced motorsports complex located in Alcañiz, Aragon, Spain. The FIM Grand Prix circuit measures 5.077 km (3.155 mi) in length. The track features 17 turns, with 10 left-handers and 7 right-handers. Riders navigate the circuit in an anti-clockwise direction.

The longest straight on the track spans 968 meters. This section allows Moto3 riders to reach high speeds before heavy braking zones. The circuit includes significant elevation changes that add technical demand. German architect Hermann Tilke designed the track, with technical consultation from Formula One driver Pedro de la Rosa. The circuit surface offers excellent grip, and the facilities meet MotoGP-grade standards. Motorland Aragon can accommodate 129,500 spectators.

Technical Specifications

Moto3 motorcycles for the 2026 season follow the current regulatory framework. These bikes use single-cylinder, 250cc, four-stroke engines. Honda and KTM are key manufacturers in the class. The machines produce competitive power while maintaining close racing.

Pirelli serves as the exclusive tire supplier for the Moto3 category. Riders have access to two slick tire solutions for both front and rear: soft SC1 and medium SC2 compounds. Technical regulations require a minimum rear tire pressure of 1.50 bar (22 PSI) for Moto3. Teams select tire compounds based on track conditions, temperatures, and rider preferences.

Circuit History and Background

Motorland Aragon first hosted a Grand Prix event in 2010. The circuit received the IRTA Best Grand Prix of the Year award in its debut season. This recognition highlighted the quality of the facilities and the positive reception from riders. The circuit has established itself as a popular venue on the championship calendar.

The track is part of a larger "Motor City" complex. This development includes a technology park for research and educational institutes. The complex also features a sports area with various circuits and a leisure area with a hotel and business center. This comprehensive approach creates a destination for motorsports and related activities.

What Makes This Venue Special

The circuit location in the "desert of Aragon" creates unique conditions. Race weekends often feature hot and dry weather. These conditions challenge riders and teams in the Moto3 class. Tire management becomes crucial, and physical demands on riders increase.

The anti-clockwise layout offers variety. Long straights combine with demanding braking zones. Tight corners test precision, while other sections require acceleration on lean angles. This mix creates multiple overtaking opportunities. Moto3 races at Motorland Aragon typically feature close battles and position changes. The track rewards different riding styles and bike setups, making strategy important for teams.

The elevation changes add another dimension. Riders must adapt their lines and braking points as the track rises and falls. This characteristic separates Motorland Aragon from flatter circuits. Young Moto3 riders gain valuable experience navigating these technical demands. The 2026 event will continue this tradition of competitive racing on a challenging circuit.
