The Honda Team launch for the 2025 MotoGP season marks a significant new chapter for the legendary racing outfit. Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) presents a fresh start with Castrol stepping in as title sponsor, ending the 30-year partnership with Repsol. The Honda Team launch showcases the factory team's updated RC213V motorcycles with a striking new livery featuring the classic HRC colors.
The factory team features riders Luca Marini and Joan Mir, who will pilot the Honda RC213V machines throughout the MotoGP championship. This powerful 1000cc V4 motorcycle produces over 180 KW and can reach speeds exceeding 360 km/h. The bike features an aluminum twin-tube frame, Öhlins suspension, and Brembo braking systems designed for optimal performance on the track.
Honda Team launch also highlights significant technical changes, including the appointment of Romano Albesiano as Technical Director. Albesiano joins from Aprilia and leads Honda's renewed focus on development. Test riders Takaaki Nakagami and Aleix Espargaró will support this effort to return Honda to the top of MotoGP competition.
The satellite LCR Honda team completes the Honda MotoGP lineup with Johann Zarco and Somkiat Chantra, the first Thai rider in MotoGP. Both teams will benefit from continuous upgrades planned throughout the 2025 season as Honda works to overcome recent challenges in the championship.
Honda's rich MotoGP history includes 15 premier class world championships and 183 victories during the Repsol partnership alone. The Honda Team launch signals the manufacturer's commitment to reclaiming its position at the front of the grid with improved technology and a restructured technical approach.
The Honda RC213V continues the company's tradition of innovation with advanced aerodynamics focused on reducing wheelie behavior and improving stability. This technology transfer between racing and production models remains a core philosophy for Honda in MotoGP.
This Honda Team launch promises competitive racing as the team aims to improve upon recent results and challenge for podiums in the 2025 MotoGP season.
