âšď¸ About Rally Estonia
Rally Estonia stands as Estonia's premier motorsport event, featuring fast-paced action on the smooth gravel roads of Southern Estonia. The WRC competition runs through municipalities including Tartu, Otepää, Elva, and areas surrounding Peipsi Lake. Drivers tackle approximately 12 stages covering 308 kilometers of challenging terrain.
The circuit features wide-open stages with a mix of high-speed sections, technical parts, and jumps that test driver skill. These gravel roads allow competitors to reach maximum speeds, making Rally Estonia one of the fastest events in the WRC calendar. The surface often becomes rutted during second passes, adding an extra challenge for drivers and their teams.
Top WRC teams compete in Rally Estonia, with local star Ott Tänak drawing enthusiastic support from Estonian fans. The event showcases Rally1 cars powered by 1.6-liter turbocharged engines delivering over 370 horsepower. These four-wheel drive machines use 100% sustainable fossil-free fuel and feature mechanical differentials specially tuned for the soft Estonian gravel.
Rally Estonia began in 2010 as part of the Estonian Rally Championship before joining the European Rally Championship from 2014 to 2016. After serving as an official WRC Promotional Event in 2019, it gained full WRC status in 2020. Past winners include Estonian drivers Markko Märtin and Ott Tänak, alongside international stars like Mads Ăstberg and Kalle Rovanperä.
The event has welcomed over 400,000 spectators since its inception. The ceremonial start takes place in Tartu's town square, while the service park operates from the Estonian National Museum. Rally Estonia delivers fast-paced action and showcases Estonia's beautiful landscapes to a global audience. This WRC round promises competitive racing on some of the most exciting gravel roads in rallying.
