About F1 Academy
F1 Academy is an innovative racing championship created by Formula One to develop and prepare female drivers for progression to higher levels of motorsport competition. Founded in 2023, this female-only series features identical Tatuus F4-T421 chassis powered by 174-horsepower turbocharged engines from Autotecnica Motori, creating a competitive environment where driver skill is the differentiating factor. All ten Formula 1 teams support one driver each who carries their team's livery, demonstrating F1's commitment to increasing female representation in motorsport.
Competing exclusively at Formula 1 weekends, F1 Academy provides drivers with unprecedented visibility and professional development opportunities. The series follows a competitive format with qualifying sessions and races, awarding championship points to top finishers and offering FIA Super License points to the top five drivers in the standings. This structure ensures drivers gain valuable experience while developing the technical skills needed to advance their careers.
F1 Academy serves as a crucial stepping stone for talented female racers, with drivers aged 16-25 eligible to participate for a maximum of two seasons. Champions receive fully-funded seats in higher categories—2023 champion Marta García progressed to the Formula Regional European Championship, while 2024 champion Abbi Pulling advanced to the GB3 Championship. With the addition of Hitech Grand Prix as the sixth team in 2025, the series continues to expand its reach and strengthen the pathway for women in motorsport.
