About Concepción
The Autódromo de Concepción del Uruguay stands as a prominent motorsport venue in Argentina's Entre Ríos Province. The circuit opened its gates on May 18, 2014, and quickly established itself as a key destination for Argentine racing championships. Located on the outskirts of Concepción del Uruguay, the facility occupies 125 hectares of land that was previously used for grazing. Francisco Tamay led the project's development through an organizing commission, securing municipal land and provincial government support. The circuit sits just 15 minutes from the city center and offers easy access to regional beaches.
Technical Specifications and Track Layout
The main circuit measures 4.279 kilometers (2.659 miles) and contains 9 turns. Engineers from ACTC contributed to the track's design during construction, creating a balanced mix of medium-speed and high-speed corners. The circuit width ranges between 10 and 15 meters throughout most sections. The track's most impressive feature is a 900-meter straight where Turismo Carretera stock cars reach speeds up to 240 km/h. After this straight, drivers face a series of quick switchbacks and technical sequences that test their skills. The circuit profile remains mostly flat, though slight undulations affect car stability during high-speed sections.
Two shorter variants serve training and promotional categories. The medium variant spans 3.220 kilometers (2.001 miles) with 7 turns, while the short variant measures 2.480 kilometers (1.541 miles) with 6 turns. Germán Todino holds the overall lap record at 1:25.102, which he set in a Ford Mustang Mach 1 during a 2025 Turismo Carretera event. For TC2000, Augusto Scalbi posted the qualification record of 1:28.146 (174.760 km/h) in a Peugeot 408 in 2016, while Martín Moggia achieved the race lap record of 1:28.990 (173.103 km/h) in a Honda Civic the same year.
Major Championships and Racing History
The circuit hosts Argentina's premier racing series annually. Turismo Carretera, the country's most important category, has visited every year since 2014 except during COVID-19 restrictions. TC Pista, TC2000, TC2000 Series, Top Race V6, and Turismo Nacional also compete here regularly. Lower-tier series including TC Mouras and TC Pista Mouras use the facility for their championship rounds. Single-seater categories like Fórmula Nacional Argentina and F4 Argentina schedule events at the circuit. TCR South America Touring Car Championship visited in 2021, bringing international competition to Entre Ríos. The circuit also accommodates regional motorsport events and hosts a round of the Argentinian Rallycross Championship on a mixed-surface configuration.
Notable Turismo Carretera winners include Matías Rossi (Chevrolet, 2014), Juan Manuel Silva (Ford, 2015), Luis José Di Palma (Torino, 2016 and 2017), Guillermo Ortelli (Chevrolet, 2016), Jonatan Castellano (Dodge, 2018 and 2021), Juan Cruz Benvenuti (Torino, 2019), Agustín Canapino (Chevrolet, 2022), and Germán Todino (Dodge, 2023; Ford Mustang, 2024). Chevrolet, Torino, and Dodge each claim three victories, while Ford has secured two wins.
Facilities and Infrastructure
The permanent road course meets professional standards and recently received FIA Grade 3 certification. Safety upgrades include temporary gravel traps and wider exit kerbs. Spectator facilities accommodate substantial crowds, and the venue provides 5 hectares of vehicle parking. A neighboring kart track serves as a development facility for junior racing talent. In 2016, a tornado damaged paddock facilities, but the local motorsport community rapidly repaired and improved the infrastructure. The circuit ranks as one of three national-category racing circuits in Entre Ríos Province, alongside venues in Paraná and Concordia.
