Photo: Nissan Nissan is set to undertake its first shakedown with its 2026 SUPER GT challenger this week at Fuji Speedway as it prepares to revamp the aerodynamics of its Z NISMO. With the current aerodynamic freeze for GT500 cars being lifted this winter, Nissan has the opportunity to make the first visible changes to the Z NISMO since its introduction at the start of 2024, when it replaced the first iteration of the Z.
Hirate Parts Ways With Nissan After Title Near-Miss

The 39-year-old made the revelation after finishing fourth in the Kondo Racing Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 he shared with Joao Paulo de Oliveira in Sunday’s finale, falling one point shy of LEON Racing Mercedes-AMG pair Naoya Gamou and Togo Suganami.

Makino and co-driver Naoki Yamamoto finished fourth on the road in Sunday’s final race of the season from seventh on the grid, having gone into the weekend with an outside chance of GT500 title honors after their unexpected win at Autopolis.

Photo: SUPER GT TOM’S Toyota drivers Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita secured the team’s third consecutive SUPER GT title triumph after scoring a narrow victory ahead of the Team Impul Nissan in a thrilling conclusion to the season at Motegi. Starting from second on the grid, Tsuboi wasted no time in seizing the lead from the pole-winning Cerumo Toyota of Hiroaki Ishiura, taking advantage of his superior tire warm-up to take the lead as early as the exit of Turn 4 on the first lap.
Oyu Delivers Cerumo Vital Pole in Motegi Finale
Photo: SUPER GT Toshiki Oyu boosted the Cerumo Toyota team’s chances of scoring a comeback SUPER GT title by scoring the bonus point for pole in qualifying for this weekend’s Motegi season finale, beating TOM’S driver Sho Tsuboi. At the end of a closely-fought Q2 pole shootout, Oyu delivered two laps good enough for pole, with his best effort of 1:35.
