About Streets of Arlington

The Streets of Arlington represents a significant addition to the IndyCar calendar. This temporary street circuit in Arlington, Texas will debut in March 2026 for the inaugural Grand Prix of Arlington. The track is a joint venture between Penske Entertainment, the Dallas Cowboys, and REV Entertainment. The circuit measures 2.73 miles (4.39 km) and features 14 turns that wind through Arlington's entertainment district. Tony Cotman designed the layout. Cotman has created several successful Champ Car and IndyCar street circuits throughout his career.

Racing History

The Grand Prix of Arlington marks the return of IndyCar racing to the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The first Indy car events in this area took place at Arlington Downs from 1947 to 1950. Texas Motor Speedway later hosted IndyCar events from 1997 through 2023. The Streets of Arlington circuit brings open-wheel racing back to the metroplex in a new street racing format. This circuit will be the first IndyCar race to run through Arlington's entertainment district.

Track Layout and Design

The circuit path surrounds three major sports venues. The track runs around AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. It also circles Globe Life Field, where the Texas Rangers play. Choctaw Stadium marks the third venue along the circuit route. The layout includes a split pit lane configuration. This double-sided pit lane design is similar to the system used at the Detroit Grand Prix. A technical horseshoe section near AT&T Stadium adds challenge to the course. Two areas feature unique overhead structures where the track passes underneath circuit hospitality and suites.

Technical Specifications

The Streets of Arlington will become the longest street circuit on the IndyCar schedule. The track is longer than any permanent road course IndyCar visits, except for Road America. The main straightaway stretches 0.9 miles (1.448 km), making it the longest straightaway on any IndyCar street or road course. Cars are expected to reach speeds over 180 mph on this straight. The circuit offers multiple overtaking opportunities. Turn 1 provides the primary passing zone after the long straight. Turns 10, 12, and 14 offer additional overtaking areas.

Circuit Features

The design philosophy emphasizes speed and flow. The circuit combines high-speed sections with technical corners. Turn 6 stands out as a horseshoe-like carousel. This turn requires precise technical handling and car control. The combination of fast straights and technical sections will test both driver skill and car setup. The split pit lane configuration adds strategic elements to race planning. Teams must consider pit entry and exit timing carefully.

Inaugural Event

The inaugural Grand Prix of Arlington is scheduled for March 13-15, 2026. The event weekend follows a traditional format. Practice sessions take place on Friday. Qualifying runs on Saturday. The main race occurs on Sunday. The Toyota GR Cup Series will support the event. Indy NXT races are also planned for the weekend. This multi-series format provides fans with extensive racing action throughout the three-day event. The March timing places Arlington early in the IndyCar season, giving the race added importance for championship points and momentum.
