βΉοΈ About Brands Hatch Indy
The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returns to Brands Hatch Indy for rounds 4, 5, and 6 of the season. This triple-header event takes place at the Indy Circuit in West Kingsdown, Kent, England. The btcc has visited Brands Hatch since the series began in 1958, making this one of the championship's most historic venues.
The Brands Hatch Indy Circuit measures 1.208 miles with seven turns. The layout features tight corners, fast straights, and dramatic elevation changes. Paddock Hill Bend stands out as a downhill, blind corner with an 8% gradient that demands precision from drivers. Druids presents a tight hairpin turn that tests braking skills on an uphill section. Graham Hill Bend requires drivers to adapt based on grip levels. The circuit sits within a natural amphitheater, which provides excellent viewing positions for spectators.
Multiple manufacturers compete in the btcc, including Ford, BMW, Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda. Teams such as Alliance Racing, EXCELR8 Motorsport, Speedworks Motorsport, West Surrey Racing, Power Maxed Racing, Un-Limited Motorsport, Restart Racing, and One Motorsport bring their cars to Brands Hatch Indy. Drivers like Jake Hill, Tom Ingram, Ash Sutton, Dan Cammish, Gordon Shedden, Josh Cook, and Stephen Jelley compete in the series.
All cars follow Next Generation Touring Car regulations, which were introduced in 2011 to reduce costs. Teams can choose TOCA's NGTC-spec engine or develop their own 2-litre turbo-charged engine producing over 350 bhp. The 2025 season introduced significant changes. The btcc switched to 100% sustainable fuels, becoming the first UK championship to adopt fossil-free fuel. Hybrid power has been discontinued, with power surge now coming solely via turbo boost. Cars are approximately 55 kg lighter than before. Teams no longer need to specify before qualifying which race will use their option tyre.
Brands Hatch started as a grass track for motorcycle racing in 1926. The first race took place on April 16, 1950. The circuit hosted its first post-war motorcycle meeting in 1932 and the inaugural Formula One race in 1956. The British Grand Prix was held at Brands Hatch twelve times between 1964 and 1986. Notable drivers like Stirling Moss, Ayrton Senna, and Nigel Mansell have competed here. Nigel Mansell secured his first Grand Prix victory at Brands Hatch in 1985.
The Brands Hatch Indy event also features support racing from the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB, the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy, and the Caterham Seven Championship UK. Tickets are available on the gate, with free entry for children under 13. The venue's natural amphitheater setting creates an atmosphere where fans can watch multiple sections of the circuit from various vantage points.
The name "Brands Hatch" may come from "de Brondehach," a Gaelic term meaning "wooded slope" or "entrance to the forest." The Indy Circuit layout was the first section to be laid out in tarmac in the 1950s. The circuit has maintained its position as a cornerstone of British motorsport for decades. The btcc continues to deliver competitive racing at Brands Hatch Indy, with close battles expected across all three races.
