ℹ️ About Silverstone National

The Silverstone National circuit hosts the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship for three races of close competition. This btcc round takes place at Silverstone in Northamptonshire, bringing touring car racing to one of Britain's most famous racing venues. The National layout offers a compact 1.64-mile circuit with six corners that create intense wheel-to-wheel action.

Silverstone National provides excellent racing conditions for btcc competitors. The Wellington Straight allows drivers to use slipstream tactics before hard braking into Brooklands. Luffield presents another key overtaking zone where drivers must commit late on the brakes. The circuit's mix of long straights and tight corners rewards both bravery and precision.

The 2025 btcc season features 24 cars competing under Next Generation Touring Car regulations. All vehicles run on 100% sustainable, fossil-free fuel, marking a significant change for the championship. Cars no longer use hybrid systems, instead relying on turbo boost technology. This modification reduced vehicle weight by approximately 55kg while maintaining similar power outputs.

Top drivers compete for championship points across three races. Ash Sutton, Tom Ingram, Jake Hill, Josh Cook, and Aiden Moffat represent the caliber of talent on track. Gordon Shedden returned to the series with Toyota Gazoo Racing UK, while Daryl DeLeon joined West Surrey Racing. Manufacturers including Ford, BMW, Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda field entries in the championship.

The Silverstone National circuit holds lap records set in 2025. Daryl DeLeon posted a qualifying time of 56.734 seconds at 105.43mph. Tom Ingram matched this pace with a race lap of 56.875 seconds. These times demonstrate the speed possible on this configuration.

Each btcc meeting at Silverstone National follows a three-race format. The top three finishers from race one must use their hardest tire compound in race two, adding strategic variation. Points go to the top 15 finishers in each race, with bonus points awarded for pole position, fastest lap, and leading a lap. The championship boost system gives cars outside the top seven more deployment time across race distance.

Silverstone began as RAF Silverstone, a Royal Air Force bomber station that opened in 1943. The venue hosted an impromptu race in September 1947, launching its motorsport legacy. The first btcc race at Silverstone ran in 1959, and the circuit has since hosted 130 championship rounds. The facility earned recognition as the birthplace of Formula 1, hosting the first world championship race in 1950.

The British Racing Drivers' Club owns and operates Silverstone. Spectators enjoy free parking, grandstand seating at BRDC, Woodcote B, Luffield, and Copse A, plus grass bank viewing areas. Food courts, bars, and merchandise stalls serve visitors throughout race day. Medical facilities and family amenities including baby changing rooms support a comfortable experience.

Tom Ingram won two races at Silverstone National in 2024, with Jake Hill taking the second race victory. These results show how competitive racing unfolds on this circuit layout. The btcc technical regulations include an engine freeze through 2026 to control costs. Future engine rules allow any UK-sold model with an internal combustion engine to compete, and teams can use any homologated btcc engine regardless of chassis manufacturer.

Tickets for Silverstone National btcc rounds offer value when purchased online in advance. Children under 16 attend free with a paying adult, making this an accessible motorsport experience. Camping at The Ridings provides convenient accommodation within walking distance of the circuit. The venue's facilities and competitive racing make Silverstone National a highlight of the touring car calendar.
