All cars run on 100% renewable fuels, continuing the environmental initiative from the previous season.

The Silverstone National Circuit

Silverstone stands as the home of British motor racing. The BTCC uses the National Circuit layout, which measures 1.64 miles or approximately 2.64 kilometers. This configuration features six corners and was specifically chosen for touring car racing. Long straights lead into tight corners, creating numerous overtaking opportunities.

The National Pit Straight served as the main start/finish area and pit complex from 1952 to 2010. This section still functions as the paddock hub for BTCC events. The circuit originated as RAF Silverstone during World War II, with the track layout following the original airfield runways. Drivetrain Components

An Xtrac six-speed sequential-shift gearbox is mandatory for all competitors. The differential also comes from Xtrac. AP Racing supplies the carbon clutch with steel cover. Each car maintains its production vehicle's drivetrain layout, either front-wheel or rear-wheel drive.

Chassis and Aerodynamics

Production line shells form the basis of each car. Specified front and rear subframes attach to the shell. Aerodynamic additions include a specified rear wing and wheel-arch extensions. The 2026 season sees a weight reduction of 55 kilograms across all cars.

Standard Components

Many parts are supplied as standard to all teams. This includes turbos, wastegates, intercoolers, dampers, suspension components, fuel tanks, brakes, and the pedal box. Cosworth provides the electronics package with ECU, dashboard, and data logging equipment. Team Dynamics supplies eighteen-inch wheels to all competitors.

Championship Heritage

The British Touring Car Championship began in 1958 as the British Saloon Car Championship. The series ranks as the third-longest running racing championship globally, behind only Formula 1 and NASCAR. The philosophy centers on racing cars that everyday drivers can purchase and relate to.
