ℹ️ About Round 12 & 13

The GT4 America series brings Round 12 & 13 to Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2026. This venue stands as one of the most historic racing facilities in North America. The race weekend features two 60-minute sprint races on the road course configuration. GT4-specification race cars from multiple manufacturers will compete across three different classes.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course

Indianapolis Motor Speedway sits in Speedway, Indiana, just outside Indianapolis. The facility opened in 1909 as the second purpose-built banked oval racing circuit. People started calling it "The Brickyard" because builders paved it with 3.2 million bricks. A strip of these original bricks remains at the start/finish line today.

The road course measures 2.439 miles in length and includes 14 turns. This layout incorporates part of the famous oval track, including the front straightaway. Turn 1 presents a tight left-hander that creates close racing action. The technical sections from Turn 5 through Turn 8 test both driver skill and car setup. Turn 7 offers another key passing opportunity for competitors.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway holds the title as the highest-capacity sports venue globally. The permanent seating capacity exceeds 257,000 people. When including the infield area, the venue can accommodate approximately 400,000 spectators. The facility earned placement on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and became a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

GT4 America Series Overview

The SRO Motorsports Group established the GT4 America Series in 2017. This series runs as a support championship to the GT World Challenge America. Competing manufacturers include Aston Martin, BMW, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, Toyota, and Ford. All vehicles meet GT4 homologation standards set by the Royal Automobile Club Belgium.

Class Structure and Competition Format

GT4 America divides competitors into three classes based on driver experience and rating. The Pro-Am class uses blue decals to identify cars. The Silver class features silver decals. The Am class displays yellow decals. Each entry fields two drivers who share driving duties throughout the race.

Each race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway runs for 60 minutes. Teams must complete a mandatory pit stop with a driver change during this period. The SRO controls the Balance of Performance system to maintain fair competition between different car models. Points earned in GT4 America count toward the global GT4 championship standings.

Competing Teams

Several professional racing teams participate in the GT4 America series. Auto Technic Racing, Random Vandals Racing, and BimmerWorld bring their entries. Fast Track Racing, Heart of Racing Team, JMF Motorsports, and Blackdog Racing also field competitive programs. These teams bring extensive experience in GT4 competition.

Historic Racing Venue

Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosts the Indianapolis 500, which draws over 300,000 people as the largest single-day sporting event worldwide. The Speedway grounds cover more area than Vatican City, Yankee Stadium, and the Colosseum combined. The first event at this track was actually a balloon race rather than an automobile competition.

Dale Jarrett started the "Kiss the Bricks" tradition in 1996 after winning the Brickyard 400. Winners now kiss the remaining brick strip at the start/finish line. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum operates on the grounds, along with the Brickyard Crossing Golf Resort. This golf course features four holes located inside the track infield.

What to Expect at Round 12 & 13

The gt4-america races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway showcase close competition between professional and amateur drivers. The road course layout provides multiple passing zones and technical challenges. Drivers must balance speed with precision through the varied corner combinations. The mandatory pit stops add strategic elements to each 60-minute race.

Fans can observe different racing lines and car behaviors as teams optimize their setups for this specific circuit. The mix of oval banking and road course sections creates unique challenges not found at traditional road courses. Teams adjust suspension settings, aerodynamic configurations, and tire strategies to suit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway characteristics.

The 2026 season brings gt4-america competition back to this legendary venue. Spectators will witness GT4 race cars navigate the same track surfaces used by generations of racing champions. The combination of historic significance and modern GT4 machinery creates a compelling racing spectacle at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
