About Round 4 & 5
The Pirelli GT4 America series brings Rounds 4 and 5 to Sebring International Raceway in Florida. This GT4 America race weekend features two 60-minute sprint races as part of a larger SRO America competition that includes multiple racing series. The event showcases homologated GT4 race cars from various manufacturers in multi-class competition at one of North America's most challenging racing facilities.
Race Format and Competition
GT4 America follows a consistent doubleheader sprint race format at Sebring International Raceway. Each race lasts 60 minutes and features multi-class grids that create competitive battles throughout the field. The SRO America weekend structure provides maximum track time across three days, with opportunities for fans to engage with drivers and teams. The GT4 cars compete under technical regulations from SRO Motorsports Group that ensure competitive parity across different manufacturers.
The Sebring International Raceway Circuit
Sebring International Raceway stands as North America's oldest permanent road racing facility. The track was established in 1950 on the former runways and service roads of Hendricks Army Airfield, a World War II training base. The circuit measures 3.74 miles in length and contains 17 turns that challenge both drivers and machinery.
Surface Characteristics
The track surface at Sebring International Raceway presents unique challenges for GT4 America competitors. The circuit combines smooth asphalt sections with bumpy concrete from the original military runways, some of which was poured in 1941. These transitions create such harsh conditions that sparks fly from car undercarriages. The demanding surface tests vehicle durability and driver skill equally. Racing experts consider conditions at Sebring particularly punishing, requiring careful mechanical management throughout each race.
Expected GT4 America Participants
The GT4 America field at Sebring International Raceway will feature entries from multiple manufacturers. BMW teams include Rigid Speed Company, Flying Lizard Motorsports, Stephen Cameron Racing, ACI Motorsports, Auto Technic Racing, BimmerWorld, and Random Vandals Racing, all campaigning the M4 GT4 platform.
Manufacturer Representation
Ford representation comes through TechSport Racing and McCumbee McAleer Racing, with LAP Motorsports also fielding the new-generation Mustang GT4. McLaren Artura GT4 entries will come from Flying Lizard Motorsports, Blackdog Racing, and Advance Motorsports. Mercedes-AMG GT4 machinery appears through Dome Motorsport and Off Leash Motorsports.
Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport entries include teams from NOLASPORT, ACI Motorsports, and Kellymoss. Toyota GR Supra GT4 teams such as Precision Racing LA and RAFA Racing Team will campaign the updated EVO2 specification. ACI Motorsports has expanded to four cars for the season, including entries for Yves Baltas and Jimmy Llibre in the Silver class, plus Alex and Michael Garcia in the AM GT4 program.
Technical Regulations
GT4 America utilizes homologated GT4 race cars that meet SRO Motorsports Group technical specifications. These regulations create competitive balance across different manufacturers and models. The GT4 platform connects to global customer racing programs and delivers clear brand identity for each manufacturer. The rules maintain close competition and wheel-to-wheel racing throughout each event.
Sebring Heritage and Racing Character
Sebring International Raceway hosted its first race on December 31, 1950, with the Sam Collier 6-Hour Memorial Race. The venue held its first 12 Hours of Sebring in 1952. The track became the inaugural event of the FIA sports car world championship in 1953, where a Chrysler-powered Cunningham earned America's first international sports car victory.
Racing Legacy
The circuit hosted the first Formula One race in the United States in December 1959. Legendary drivers including Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Dan Gurney, and Mario Andretti have all competed at the facility. Dan Gurney captured the track's significance when he said a win at Sebring lasts forever. The circuit operates over 300 days per year as a testing facility and home to various racing schools.
The combination of the challenging surface at Sebring International Raceway, unpredictable Florida weather conditions, and the competitive GT4 America field creates demanding racing conditions. The historic circuit tests every aspect of team preparation and driver ability. This GT4 America race weekend promises competitive action across both rounds as teams and drivers face one of motorsport's most storied and demanding venues.
