About Silverstone

The Moto3 British Grand Prix returns to Silverstone in 2026 as part of the 78th FIM Road Racing World Championship season. This premier motorcycle racing event brings together the world's top young riders competing on 250cc prototype machines at one of England's most famous racing venues. Silverstone provides the perfect stage for close racing and spectacular battles in the Moto3 class.

Silverstone Circuit

Silverstone Circuit sits in Northamptonshire, England, and offers a fast and flowing layout that tests rider skill at every turn. The Grand Prix circuit measures 5.900 km (3.660 miles) and features 18 corners, with 10 right-handers and 8 left-handers. The longest straight stretches 770 meters, giving riders opportunities to reach top speeds and set up overtaking moves.

The circuit received major modifications in 2011 with the Arena infield layout. This addition brought the Village, Loop, and Aintree corners, which extended the track length and created more overtaking zones. The high-speed Copse corner opens the lap, followed by the demanding Maggots and Becketts complex that challenges riders with rapid direction changes. The Silverstone Wing complex, added in 2011, serves as a modern centerpiece and houses improved facilities.

Technical Specifications

Moto3 motorcycles use 250cc prototype engines supplied by Honda and KTM. These machines deliver impressive performance while keeping costs manageable for the entry-level class. Pirelli provides the exclusive tire supply for Moto3 in 2026, offering soft SC1 and medium SC2 slick solutions for both front and rear applications.

Regulations require a minimum rear tire pressure of 1.50 bar (22 PSI). The maximum permitted handlebar grip length stands at 130mm. The 2026 season continues with the current 250cc prototype format, though significant technical regulation changes are expected for future seasons.

Silverstone Moto3 Racing History

Silverstone hosted its first motorcycle Grand Prix in 1977, establishing a long tradition of two-wheeled competition. The circuit consistently produces fast lap times in Moto3, with the combination of long straights and flowing corners allowing riders to maintain high average speeds throughout each lap.

Recent seasons have shown remarkable pace improvements at Silverstone. The circuit's layout rewards precision and bravery through high-speed sections while offering multiple racing lines through technical corners. Races at Silverstone often see large groups of riders battling for position, with narrow margins separating competitors at the finish.

The circuit's characteristics make it particularly suitable for Moto3 racing. The long straights allow riders to benefit from slipstreaming, while the technical sections demand precise bike control. This combination creates close competition and frequent position changes throughout the race.

What Makes This Event Special

The Moto3 race at Silverstone showcases the future stars of motorcycle racing competing at a circuit known for high-speed action. The venue's rich motorsport heritage combines with modern facilities to provide an excellent environment for both competitors and spectators. The 2026 season brings new faces to the grid alongside established competitors, creating fresh storylines and unpredictable racing.
