ℹ️ About Michigan

The FireKeepers Casino 400 NASCAR Cup Series race returns to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. This premier NASCAR Cup event features 200 laps of high-speed action across the 2-mile D-shaped oval track. The Michigan race serves as the first of three races determining seeding for the NASCAR in-season tournament, adding extra significance to the competition.

Michigan International Speedway stands as one of NASCAR's fastest tracks with its 18-degree banking in the turns. Drivers often reach speeds exceeding 200 mph on the wide, sweeping corners and long straightaways. The track sits on 1,400 acres in the beautiful Irish Hills area, offering fans excellent sightlines throughout the venue.

The NASCAR Cup Series brings all major teams to Michigan, including Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, and Team Penske. Star drivers like Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, and Ryan Blaney will battle for victory in their Next Gen cars. The 2025 Open Exemption Provisional rule may allow drivers from other racing series to participate if more than 40 cars qualify.

Technically, the NASCAR Cup cars at Michigan International Speedway feature 5.86-liter V8 engines, 5-speed sequential manual transmissions, and weigh approximately 3,400 pounds with driver and fuel. All competitors run on Sunoco Green E15 fuel with Goodyear tires specifically designed for the high-speed Michigan track.

Michigan International Speedway has hosted NASCAR races since 1969, with Cale Yarborough winning the inaugural event. Originally constructed in 1967-1968, the track has a rich racing heritage spanning multiple motorsport disciplines. The speedway operated as a dual-race venue until 2021, traditionally hosting two NASCAR Cup events annually.

Fans attending the Michigan NASCAR Cup race can enjoy the largest registered campground in Michigan. The speedway accommodates 56,000 spectators and offers various viewing options and amenities. The weekend features additional racing action with the ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

This Michigan NASCAR Cup event promises spectacular racing action at one of America's fastest speedways. The combination of high speeds, wide racing surface, and top talent creates perfect conditions for side-by-side competition and dramatic finishes at Michigan International Speedway.
