About Super GT Round 3

Super GT represents one of Asia's premier motorsport championships, featuring high-performance GT racing machinery from leading manufacturers. The series showcases two main categories: the GT500 class with purpose-built race cars producing over 650 horsepower, and the GT300 class that includes both FIA GT3 specification vehicles and unique Japanese machinery known as Mother Chassis cars.

Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia stands as one of Southeast Asia's most respected racing facilities. The 5.543-kilometer circuit features a distinctive layout with long straights, technical corners, and dramatic elevation changes that challenge drivers and teams. Designed by Hermann Tilke, the track opened in 1999 and has hosted numerous international motorsport events.

Current Super GT Schedule Status

The Super GT series has not raced at Sepang International Circuit since 2013. Current international rounds for the championship take place at Chang International Circuit in Thailand. The official calendar for the series continues to focus on Japanese circuits including Fuji Speedway, Suzuka Circuit, Autopolis, Sugo, and Motegi, alongside the Thailand round.

Super GT Series Overview

The supergt championship operates under regulations that create close, competitive racing. GT500 machines from Nissan, Honda, and Toyota battle using advanced aerodynamics, hybrid powertrains, and sophisticated electronics. The GT300 class offers variety with multiple manufacturers and both professional and amateur drivers competing together.

Technical Specifications

GT500 cars feature turbocharged four-cylinder or naturally aspirated V8 engines paired with hybrid systems. Carbon fiber chassis construction and advanced aerodynamic packages create downforce levels approaching single-seater racing cars. GT300 vehicles range from FIA GT3 cars from manufacturers like Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, and Lamborghini, to specialized Mother Chassis machines built specifically for Japanese GT racing.

Circuit Characteristics

Sepang International Circuit offers 15 turns combining high-speed sections with technical sequences. The main straight stretches 920 meters, providing opportunities for drafting and overtaking. Corners vary from fast sweepers to tight hairpins, demanding balanced car setup. The Malaysian climate presents additional challenges with high temperatures and occasional tropical weather.

While Super GT Round 3 does not currently feature Sepang International Circuit on its schedule, both the series and the Malaysian venue maintain significant positions within Asian motorsport. The championship continues to deliver competitive racing across its established calendar locations.
