ℹ️ About Rally del Paraguay
Rally del Paraguay joins the prestigious WRC calendar as Paraguay becomes the 38th nation to host a World Rally Championship round. Based in Encarnación in the southeastern Itapúa Department, this multi-year agreement brings top-level rally racing to Paraguayan soil. The rally runs through several towns including Cambyretá, Trinidad, Bella Vista, and Capitán Miranda, showcasing the diverse landscapes of the region.
The event features 334.52 kilometers of competitive special stages across a total distance of 951.59 kilometers. Drivers will face red gravel roads that run alongside the scenic Paraná River, creating a medium-speed challenge that sits between the pace of Rally Chile and the faster events in Finland and Latvia. The course includes the Capitán Miranda Autódromo and the culturally significant Misión Jesuítica Trinidad.
Rally del Paraguay builds on the foundation of Rally Trans Itapúa, which began in 1981 and has a rich history in Paraguayan motorsport. Local drivers like Gustavo Saba, Fabrizio Zaldivar, and Diego Domínguez have represented Paraguay in international rally competitions.
Technical aspects of the WRC in Paraguay will feature cars from Rally1 to Rally5 categories, all running on 100% fossil-free fuel. The 2025 regulations bring significant changes with hybrid units removed from Rally1 cars, reducing their weight by 80kg to 1180kg while limiting power output to over 370 PS.
Rally is the second most popular sport in Paraguay after football, with an active fan community that promises a vibrant atmosphere for competitors and spectators. The event will draw hundreds of thousands of visitors and create substantial economic benefits for the region.
The Paraguay WRC round aims to display the country's commitment to sustainability, with Paraguay generating all its grid electricity from renewable resources. This aligns with WRC's own environmental initiatives, including its fossil-free fuel program.
This rally offers an exciting new challenge for WRC competitors and a perfect opportunity for Paraguay to display its natural beauty, cultural wealth, and passionate rally fans to a global audience.
