Turn-in Point

Track Terminology

The Turn-in Point is the specific location on a racetrack where a driver begins steering into a corner, initiating the cornering process.

Finding the optimal turn-in point is crucial for executing the perfect racing line through a corner. Turn in too early, and you'll miss the apex and run wide on exit; turn in too late, and you'll struggle to position the car correctly, sacrificing exit speed. Professional drivers spend countless hours practicing to identify the ideal turn-in point for each corner.

The turn-in point works in conjunction with other critical racing line elements: the braking point (where you slow down before a corner), the apex (the innermost point of your path through a corner), and the exit point (where you accelerate out). Mastering these reference points is fundamental to becoming faster on any circuit.
