About Berlin E-Prix (Round 7)
The Berlin E-Prix (Round 7) takes place at the historic Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit in Berlin, Germany. This formula-e race is part of the 2025-26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season. The event features a double-header weekend, with Round 7 occurring on the first day and Round 8 following the next day. The Tempelhof venue offers a unique racing experience on the concrete surface of a former airport, creating distinctive challenges for drivers and teams in this all-electric racing series.
Circuit Details at Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit
The Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit operates as a temporary circuit on the concrete apron of the former Tempelhof Airport. The circuit measures approximately 2.343 km (1.460 miles) in length and contains 15 turns. The track surface consists of repeating concrete slabs that were originally designed for aircraft operations. This highly abrasive surface creates low grip conditions, high tire wear, and demanding energy management challenges.
The circuit features several distinctive elements. Long turns and a wide track characterize the layout. A makeshift tunnel section passes through the EMotion Club, where spectators can view cars as they pass through. Part of the course runs under the canopy roof of the historic Tempelhof Airport terminal. The FIA has assigned the circuit a Grade 3E classification.

Pascal Wehrlein and Porsche lead their respective championship standings as the Berlin race approaches.
Gen3 Evo Technical Specifications
The Berlin E-Prix features the Gen3 Evo car, which serves as the final iteration of the Gen3 era. This formula-e car accelerates from 0-60 mph in 1.82 seconds (0-100 kph in 1.86s), making it the quickest accelerating FIA single-seater race car. The vehicles reach a top speed of 200 mph (322 kph).
All-wheel drive (AWD) capability activates during qualifying duels, race starts, and Attack Mode. This feature maximizes acceleration and control. The Gen3 Evo possesses a combined regenerative braking capacity of 600 kW from both axles (350 kW rear, 250 kW front). The cars generate nearly 50% of race energy through regenerative braking. The rear axle uses only regenerative braking, with no traditional hydraulic brakes.
Williams Advanced Engineering supplies the battery, which has an approximate usable energy capacity of 38.5 kWh for races and a peak charging speed of 600 kW. The car delivers a maximum of 350 kW (469 hp) in qualifying and Attack Mode, and 300 kW (402 hp) in race mode. Optimized all-weather Hankook iON tires provide 5-10% more grip than previous specifications and are made from 35% recycled and sustainable materials. The car weighs 760 kg without the driver, totaling 840 kg with the driver. The electric motor achieves over 95% efficiency.
Racing Format and Regulations
Formula E races award points to the top 10 finishers. Additional points are available for securing the Julius Baer Pole Position (three points) and the TAG Heuer Fastest Lap (one point, if the driver finishes in the top 10).
The 2025-26 season introduces several sporting regulation changes. Group stage qualifying sessions are shortened from 12 to 10 minutes. Drivers no longer need to set a lap time in the first half of group qualifying. Races featuring a mandatory Pit Boost stop require drivers to use Attack Mode only once, rather than twice.
Pit Boost is a mandatory mid-race feature that provides cars with a 10% energy increase (3.85 kWh) through a 30-second, 600kW boost in the pit lane. All-wheel drive becomes available during qualifying duels, race starts, and Attack Mode, enhancing acceleration and control.
Berlin E-Prix History
The Berlin E-Prix holds a unique position in formula-e as the only city to feature on every calendar since the championship began. The first Berlin E-Prix was held at Tempelhof Airport. The race temporarily moved to a street circuit on Karl-Marx-Allee before returning to Tempelhof with a new layout and has remained there with various modifications.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tempelhof hosted six races in nine days, utilizing three different circuit variations. This Berlin event marks the 23rd and 24th races at Tempelhof. Notable past winners at the venue include António Félix da Costa and Nick Cassidy, both with three victories. Sébastien Buemi is the only driver to have won multiple Formula E races in Berlin across both circuit locations. German driver Daniel Abt achieved a grand slam (pole, fastest lap, and win) on home soil. Nyck de Vries was crowned Formula E's first World Champion at the Berlin E-Prix.
Notable Aspects of the Event
Tempelhof Airport was once one of the largest airports globally and served as a symbol of freedom for Berliners during the Cold War. The airport ceased operations and is now being transformed into an event center, office spaces, museum, and a large public park. This provides a historically significant backdrop for the formula-e race.
Formula E operates as the world's first net-zero carbon sport. The Gen3 Evo is the world's first net-zero carbon race car. The Berlin E-Prix serves as the home race for the Porsche Formula E Team. The event offers a comprehensive experience for attendees, including live music performances. The Berlin race has sold out, demonstrating strong fan interest in this formula-e event at the Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit.
