ℹ️ About Americas GP
The Americas GP at Circuit of the Americas stands as a premier motogp event on American soil. This race takes place at the purpose-built COTA track in Austin, Texas, featuring the world's best motorcycle racers competing across MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 classes.
Circuit of the Americas offers riders a challenging 3.426-mile track with 20 turns and 133 feet of elevation change. The counter-clockwise circuit includes 11 left turns and 9 right turns. Turn 1, nicknamed "Big Red," presents a steep uphill approach to a blind hairpin, testing riders' skills from the start.
Fans enjoy excellent viewing from the 120,000-capacity venue. The track design includes elements from famous circuits worldwide, with Turns 3-6 similar to Silverstone and Turns 12-15 resembling Hockenheim's stadium section.
Technical aspects of the Americas GP involve 1000cc prototype motorcycles in the main class. Teams must follow strict regulations including engine limits and standard electronic systems. The longest straight allows riders to reach extreme speeds after exiting Turn 11, creating passing opportunities into Turn 12.
The circuit opened in 2012, with MotoGP racing beginning in 2013. Marc Márquez has shown remarkable success at this track, earning his reputation as a COTA specialist. Before Austin, US MotoGP races took place at Laguna Seca, Indianapolis, and Daytona.
Beyond racing, COTA features a 251-foot observation tower and a 14,000-seat amphitheater. The Americas GP has helped grow motorcycle racing popularity in the United States, bringing international racing talent to American fans.
This motogp event delivers close racing, technical challenges, and showcases the best riders tackling one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar. The Americas GP promises action-packed racing across all classes as competitors battle for victory at this distinctive American circuit.
