About Jeddah
The Jeddah Street Circuit hosts a round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2026. This high-speed street circuit along the Red Sea coast offers one of the most demanding challenges for F2 drivers. The Jeddah event features both Sprint and Feature races, providing double opportunities for competition on this rapid circuit.
Jeddah Street Circuit Characteristics
The Jeddah Street Circuit measures 6.174 kilometers, making it the longest street circuit currently in use for motorsport. Carsten Tilke designed this circuit, which was built on reclaimed land along the Corniche area. The track features 27 turns, more corners than any other circuit on the F1 calendar. Many of these corners are high-speed turns that drivers take at full throttle.
Average speeds reach around 250 km/h on this circuit. The layout includes multiple high-speed sections, chicanes, and long straights. Three DRS zones provide overtaking opportunities throughout the lap. The circuit holds an FIA Grade 1 license. Floodlights allow racing to take place during evening hours, with the Al-Rahma Mosque visible near the northern section of the track.
2026 F2 Championship Grid
The 2026 Formula 2 Championship features 11 teams and 22 drivers. Invicta Racing enters the season as the defending Teams' and Drivers' Champions. Alexander Dunne returns as the highest-ranking driver from the previous season's standings.
Teams and Drivers
Invicta Racing fields Rafael Câmara and Joshua Duerksen. Hitech TGR runs Ritomo Miyata and Colton Herta. Campos Racing enters Noel León and Nikola Tsolov. DAMS Lucas Oil competes with Dino Beganovic and Roman Bilinski. MP Motorsport fields Gabriele Minì and Oliver Goethe.
PREMA Racing runs Sebastián Montoya and Mari Boya. Rodin Motorsport enters Martinius Stenshorne and Alexander Dunne. ART Grand Prix competes with Kush Maini and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak. AIX Racing fields Emerson Fittipaldi and Cian Shields. Van Amersfoort Racing runs Nicolás Varrone and Rafael Villagómez. Trident enters Laurens van Hoepen and John Bennett.
Technical Specifications
Formula 2 operates as a spec series. All teams use identical equipment, which places emphasis on driver ability and team strategy. The Dallara F2 2024 chassis serves as the standard for all competitors. A Mecachrome V6 turbo engine powers each car. Pirelli supplies all tyres for the championship.
The cars use Aramco-supplied fuel containing 70% sustainable components. The championship plans to increase sustainability further, targeting fully synthetic fuels by 2027. Each car maintains a minimum weight of 755 kg, including the driver. Power steering features in the Dallara F2 2024 chassis. All cars must comply with the 2026 FIA Formula 2 Technical Regulations. Private testing with current F2 cars is not permitted.
F2 Racing at Jeddah
The Jeddah Street Circuit has hosted FIA Formula 2 Championship races since 2021. Past winners at this circuit include Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson, Felipe Drugovich, Ayumu Iwasa, Frederik Vesti, Dennis Hauger, and Enzo Fittipaldi. The circuit has produced memorable racing moments over the years, with its unique characteristics creating distinct challenges for F2 competitors.
Circuit Challenge
The Jeddah Street Circuit stands as the fastest street circuit in motorsport. The proximity of the walls combined with high-speed sections creates a demanding environment. Drivers must demonstrate precision and confidence throughout the lap. The high average speeds and limited run-off areas mean small errors can have significant consequences.
The circuit tests both driver skill and car setup. Teams must balance aerodynamic efficiency for the long straights with stability through the high-speed corners. Brake management becomes critical with several heavy braking zones following high-speed sections. The floodlit racing conditions add another dimension to the challenge.
The 2026 F2 race at Jeddah Street Circuit promises close competition on this distinctive circuit. The combination of the spec series format and the circuit's characteristics creates opportunities for unpredictable racing. Both Sprint and Feature races will test the full field of drivers across different race distances and strategies.
