Iowa Speedway stands as a unique venue in the IndyCar circuit with its 0.894-mile track length and variable banking of 12 to 14 degrees in the turns. The facility offers seating for over 30,000 fans and includes a multi-tiered RV viewing area along the backstretch.
Kyle Kirkwood enters as the defending champion, with past Iowa Speedway success stories including Josef Newgarden, who holds six victories at this track. The full roster of NTT IndyCar Series drivers and teams will compete, including notable entries from Team Penske and Andretti Global.
Drivers will pilot Dallara chassis powered by either Chevrolet or Honda engines, all running on Firestone tires. The 2025 event introduces new rules, including dashboard alerts for yellow flags and modified restart procedures specifically designed for oval tracks like Iowa Speedway.
Known as the "Fastest Short Track on the Planet," Iowa Speedway opened in 2006 with its first IndyCar race held in 2007. The track design draws inspiration from Richmond Raceway and benefits from NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace's input. Iowa Speedway also made history as the first track to install the SAFER barrier around its entire perimeter.
The Iowa Race 1 IndyCar event serves as part of the only doubleheader weekend on the IndyCar calendar, giving fans twice the racing action. This high-speed oval presents drivers with a physical and mental challenge that produces close, competitive racing from start to finish.
