About Iowa Race 2

The Iowa Race 2 brings high-speed IndyCar action back to Iowa Speedway in 2025. This second race of the doubleheader weekend features 275 laps of intense competition on the unique 0.875-mile oval track. Iowa Speedway stands as the only 7/8 mile paved track in the world, earning its nickname as the "Fastest Short Track on the Planet" with lap times under 18 seconds.

Drivers face a challenging circuit with progressive banking from 12 to 14 degrees in the turns. The D-shaped tri-oval puts both physical and mental demands on competitors as they navigate this fast Iowa track. The race covers 245.85 miles, testing driver skill and strategy throughout the event.

Iowa Speedway offers fans excellent viewing from its 30,000-seat facility. The track surface and design create multiple racing lines, allowing for passing opportunities and close competition that IndyCar fans appreciate. The backstretch includes a two-tier viewing area that provides spectators with unique perspectives of the racing action.

The Iowa event has built a rich history since IndyCar first raced at the speedway in 2007. Josef Newgarden has found particular success at Iowa Speedway with six wins on this challenging oval. The weekend also features the INDY NXT by Firestone series, giving fans additional racing entertainment.

Iowa Race 2 showcases the best of oval racing with high speeds, strategy, and wheel-to-wheel competition. The track's design, with input from NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace, creates racing that combines short-track action with superspeedway speeds. This combination makes Iowa Speedway a favorite among drivers and fans in the IndyCar series.
