About Streets of Arlington

The Streets of Arlington hosts the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington, featuring the Indy NXT by Firestone series in its inaugural race at this Texas venue. This IndyLights event marks a significant addition to the series calendar, bringing high-speed open-wheel racing to Arlington's Entertainment District. The Streets of Arlington circuit provides a challenging test for the next generation of IndyCar drivers as they compete on one of the longest street circuits in North American motorsports.

The Arlington Street Circuit

The Streets of Arlington features a temporary circuit that spans 2.73 miles through the city's Entertainment District. Street-circuit specialist Tony Cottman designed this 14-turn layout that flows around AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, and Choctaw Stadium. The circuit showcases a 0.9-mile straightaway where drivers will reach speeds above 180 mph, making it the longest straight on any street or road course in the IndyCar series family.

The Streets of Arlington incorporates a split pit lane configuration similar to the setup used at Detroit. Drivers will find prime passing opportunities at Turns 1, 10, 12, and 14. The flowing nature of the track creates a high-speed challenge that differs from traditional tight street circuits.

The IndyLights Race

The Indy NXT by Firestone series arrives at the Streets of Arlington for the second round of its season. Race weekend features practice sessions followed by qualifying and the main race. FOX Sports broadcasts all Indy NXT races live, with coverage on FS1 or FS2. Practice and qualifying sessions are available on these networks and the FOX Sports App.

This IndyLights event shares the weekend with the NTT IndyCar Series, creating a comprehensive open-wheel racing experience. The Streets of Arlington provides a unique venue where rising stars demonstrate their skills on a circuit longer than most permanent road courses these drivers will encounter.

Teams and Drivers

The Indy NXT by Firestone series features an expanded grid for its 40th season, with up to 24 entries competing at the Streets of Arlington. This represents the largest field since 2009. Teams now operate under a four-car maximum, which has opened opportunities for new competitors and technical partnerships.

Abel Motorsports fields Max Garcia, Jordan Missig, Colin Kaminsky, and Myles Rowe in partnership with Force Indy. Andretti Global brings Lochie Hughes, Sebastian Murray, Max Taylor, and Josh Pierson to the Streets of Arlington. A.J. Foyt Racing enters Nicholas Monteiro and Alessandro de Tullio.

Cape Motorsports Powered by ECR runs Matteo Nannini and Nikita Johnson. Chip Ganassi Racing fields a four-car lineup featuring James Roe, Bryce Aron, Niels Koolen, and Carson Etter. Cusick Morgan Motorsports enters Nicolas Stati.

HMD Motorsports operates four cars for Tymek Kucharczyk, Salvador de Alba, Jack Beeton, and Enzo Fittipaldi. Juncos Hollinger Racing brings Alexander Koreiba to the IndyLights competition.

Technical Specifications

All Indy NXT by Firestone competitors use Dallara IL-15 chassis. These cars feature a 2.0-liter engine produced by AER using Mazda-sourced components. Firestone supplies the tires for the entire series, ensuring consistent equipment across all teams competing at the Streets of Arlington.

A New Chapter for Open-Wheel Racing

The Streets of Arlington represents a partnership between IndyCar, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. This collaboration brings open-wheel racing back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in a new format. The region has history with open-wheel competition, dating back to Arlington Downs from 1947 to 1950, and more recently at Texas Motor Speedway from 1997 to 2023.

The Arlington Museum of Art celebrates this inaugural Grand Prix with "Chasing Victory: An INDYCAR Exhibition," displaying vintage IndyCar vehicles. The Good Ranchers Concert Series adds entertainment with performances by All Time Low and T-Pain during race weekend.

Early driver feedback about the Streets of Arlington has been positive. IndyCar veterans describe the circuit as fast and flowing, predicting competitive racing. The track's length and layout create multiple strategic elements that will test both driver skill and team strategy throughout the IndyLights race.

The Streets of Arlington IndyLights event offers fans an opportunity to watch emerging talent compete on a unique circuit. This venue combines the technical demands of street racing with sustained high-speed sections rarely seen on temporary circuits. The Indy NXT by Firestone series provides a proving ground for drivers aiming to advance to the top level of American open-wheel racing.
