About Asian Le Mans

Established by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), the Asian Le Mans Series emerged as the successor to the Japan Le Mans Challenge. After initial attempts in the early 2000s, the series found its footing with a successful relaunch in 2013, creating a strong platform for endurance racing in Asia and the Middle East.

Racing Format

The series features multiple classes including LMP2, LMP3, and GT categories, following similar regulations to the European Le Mans Series. Each entry requires a mix of professional and amateur drivers, with an emphasis on developing Asian talent. Winners earn coveted automatic invitations to the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.

International Growth

From its initial races in Japan, the series has expanded across Asia and into the Middle East. The championship has evolved to include events at prestigious venues like the Sepang International Circuit, Dubai Autodrome, and Yas Marina Circuit, demonstrating its growing international appeal.

Technical Development

The series serves as a crucial development platform for teams and drivers, featuring various classes that cater to different levels of competition and expertise. The technical regulations align with international endurance racing standards while accommodating regional participants and teams.

Regional Impact

The Asian Le Mans Series has played a vital role in developing motorsport in Asia and the Middle East, providing a professional endurance racing platform and creating opportunities for local talent and teams to compete at an international level.

Future Direction

The championship continues to expand its reach, balancing traditional Asian venues with Middle Eastern expansion. Its role as a pathway to the 24 Hours of Le Mans makes it an important stepping stone for teams and drivers aspiring to compete at the highest levels of endurance racing.
